Crater Highland Trek

DAY 1:
After breakfast in Arusha, drive to Ngorongoro and descend into the crater for a tour with your lunch boxes. After lunch, proceed to Nainokanoka Village where you will set camp and walk on the rim of the Olmoti Crater, visit the Munge waterfalls before returning to the camp. Dinner and overnight will be served at Nainokanoka Campsite.

DAY 2:
Early in the morning after breakfast, depart for Kamnana Village, walking through the Embulimbuli Depression following the cattle trails which pass through the forests and grasslands. Dinner and overnight at Kamnana Campsite which is set in the bush some distance from the village.

DAY 3:
Depart early in the morning walking through open grassland area, bush area and forests, gradually gaining height to the rim of the Empakaai Crater. Set camp on the rim, before descending into the crater floor which is covered with dense equatorial forests, grass and a volcanic lake. Animals like buffaloes, redbucks, waterbucks and different species of birds can be seen at close range during the walk around the lake.Lunch, dinner and overnight at the Empakaai Campsite.

DAY 4:
Depart for Naiyobi Village circling the crater rim and then descend on the northwestern side.Lunch, dinner and overnight at Naiyobi Village/Campsite.

DAY 5:
Depart in the morning following the dusty path downhill and off the crater highlands to Mwongoni Maasai Village. Dinner and overnight at Mwongoni Campsite at the edge of the village.

DAY 6:
Leave in the morning before the sun becomes hot following the winding path across bare volcanic rocks and dusty lava soil. The path around the northwestern floor of the active Mt.Oldonyo Lengai crosses river Ngaresero to the nearby village. Camp will be set near the river and a bath here is very refreshing. From here, your transfer jeep will drive you to the foot of Mt.Lengai to start your trek to the peak which is 9200ft high. Your overnight camp will be at Ngaresero Campsite.

DAY 7:
Descend from the mountain at about 1300hrs.You will then have a lunch tour of Lake Natron by jeep and then drive to Arusha.
